Dude… I Love Community Parks
Are there parks where you live? That is a good question many people might be asking. It’s always nice to live somewhere with some great community parks nearby. In Pahoa, there are several good ones. The people who live in Hawaiian Shores Rec have their own community park with a pool and many other amenities. There is also another park close by that has a full disk golf course. This park can be found on Malolo St. in the Hawaiian Shores neighborhood. In town, there is Lava Tree park, which has a long hiking trail for anyone to enjoy, as well as beautiful views. In Hilo, there are many beach parks that are great for enjoying nature. My favorites are Carlsmith, Richardson and Onekahakaha. At these 3 beach parks there are magnificent views and crisp clear water to swim in. Onekahaha has a shallow walled off area that is great for keiki. Throughout Hilo, there are many other parks, such as Liliuokalani Gardens or Hilo Bayfront Park, as well as assorted parks all throughout the city and neighborhoods. Living close to a park is essential and something to consider when purchasing a new home. Ask your real estate agent about the local parks to ensure you move into a home near a good one! |

Did you know?
The first flight arrived in Hawaii in 1927. It was the Bird of Paradise airplane that was used to cover the distance in excess of 2400 ground nautical miles. It took more than 25 hours for the flight crew and the airplane to make it to the island. However, the end was not as fortunate as you would think. Due to fuel shortage, they crash-landed. But the crew survived the crash.

Real Estate Tip of the Month:
Understand that you might not qualify for as much home as you think. A lot of people think that they can afford or qualify for something much more expensive than they can. Lenders may not be able to count a lot of income sources that buyers have. It’s all about how lenders calculate income. For example, lenders can’t always count your 1099 income toward qualifying you for a home. They tend to look for guaranteed income over variable income (that is, they want to be reasonably sure you’ll pay your mortgage for the next 30 years).
